Cyberfeminism and the Mahsa Amini protests

Monday night (26th September) marked the 10th consecutive night of protesting since the death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini. After allegedly wearing her hijab ‘improperly’, she died from injuries sustained while in police custody.

Tuesday Daily’s presenter, Jessie Kay, spoke to Balsam Mustafa about her research on cyberfeminism and the role that social media plays in empowering protests like the Mahsa Amini protests.

Balsam is a Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellow at the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick.
