How dangerous are 3D printed guns?

With the emergence of 3D printing technology, it appears you can create a range of equipment, such as science lab material, tools for mechanics, and even home decoration. Recently, Queensland police uncovered a 3D printer amongst a weapons manufacturing facility, associated with the Operation Oscar Quantum. Also discovered was equipment used in producing fully automatic machine guns. As you can probably imagine, this raises many issues with legality and criminal activity.
