This June Bangarra presents Dark Emu, dance stories inspired by Bruce Pascoe’s book. This work explores the vital life force of flora and fauna and challenges the ‘hunter-gatherer’ myth of pre-colonial Aboriginal Australians.
Dark Emu also shines a light on the incredible achievements of Aboriginal Australia, which have sadly been overlooked in the history books.
Sophie spoke about the work in depth with Wiradjuri man, Bangarra senior dancer and choreographer Daniel Riley.
Dark Emu, Bangarra Dance Theatre, 14 June — 14 July, tickets $61-$99
