For more than a decade, Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek have been internationally recognised for their unique and infectious sound that combines Anatolian folk with psychedelia, pop and soul influences.

Based in Berlin, with members from all over the world, they are “outernational” band with a sound and ethos that reaches beyond borders.

Their most recent album Yarın Yoksa was a feature album here at 2SER, a record of psychedelic soul that has been our default soundtrack for 2025.

Derya joined 2SER Breakfast to talk about how the band formed, their philosophy, the new album and the central thread of loss, longing, and hope for change that runs throughout.
