Do Biodegradable Plastic Bags Live Up to Their Name?

Research recently conducted by University of Plymouth’s International Marine Litter Research Unit discovered that so called “biodegradable” plastic bags were still intact and able to carry shopping after three years buried in soil and the sea. Big companies like Woolworths and Coles have recently declared war on plastic bags.

This morning, we spoke to MD & CEO of Clean Up Australia, Terrie-Ann Johnson, about how harmful single use plastic bags are to the environment, and what “biodegradable” actually means.
