If you’re an avid reader or a Netflix connoisseur you’ve probably heard of Marie Kondo. Her KonMarie Method of tidying up has been taking the internet by storm, with St Vincent De Paul reporting a 38% increase in donations up from last year alone with some stores refusing to accept donations. According to the National Association of Charitable Recycling Organisations (NACRO) around 60,000 tonnes of unwanted items, are sent to landfill each year with Australian charities are paying $13 million a year to do so. So what does decluttering do for our brain and how does it contribute to our overall happiness?
