Going dry this July for cancer

Many people are diagnosed with cancer each year, with about 11,000 Australians expected to be diagnosed in the month of July alone. “No one asks for cancer, so we’re asking Aussies to help,” says the Dry July website, a not-for-profit organisation that raises awareness and funds for adults living with cancer. The organisation calls on everyday Aussies to abstain from alcohol for the whole month of July and, through sponsorships, raise funds for the cause.

Associate Professor Philip Beale is the Head of Medical Oncology at Concord Cancer Centre and he joined 2SER’s Nic Healey to chat more about how Dry July fundraising helps cancer patients and their families. You can find out more about Dry July or donate at dryjuly.com.
