Environmental Defenders Office to lose its annual state funding

In a significant policy shift, the Queensland government has announced it will cut all state funding to the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO), breaking a pre-election promise.
The EDO, which provides free legal advice to communities challenging environmentally harmful developments, is set to lose its $500,000 annual funding after June 2025.
