James Brown

He has had his name on the big screen, but most Aussies probably wouldn’t know the name James Brown.

That’s despite the fact he is one of the producers behind one of the biggest films of 2014 – Still Alice, starring Julianne Moore. Moore won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her performance, where she played a linguistics professor who is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s.

It was a film that was almost never going to get made, from a man who almost didn’t end up in film. After studying maths and computer science in high school, James ended up doing Media Arts & Production at UTS.

Ellen Leabeater speaks to James about what a producer does and why he moved to the UK to pursue his passion.
