Chimes :: 12:00pm 4th Apr 2020

Back in the bedroom saddle for this edition of Chimes, being stuck inside I fell in love with Guided By Voices all over again so I play a few of their tunes on today’s show. It all started one day many years ago, listening to an early 7″ at the mighty Waterfront Records and was recommended to buy this fresh new release called Bee Thousand. I’ll never forget how I felt as I heard the opening track….then my head spinning – insanely short catchy melodies, erroneous noises and pause/stop/edit/dropouts – Robert Pollard channels Jagger/Daltry, all the Beatles and sundry forgotten ’60s garage bands all doused in Rolling Rock Beer and head scratching weirdness. Utter Brilliance. We kick off with the excellent new single from Pale Lights then stellar work from Nap Eyes, Rolling Blackout Coastal Fever and we pay tribute to Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne and so much more) who passed away last week.
