Bit of a mixed bag this week, had some logistical issues that saw the first 40 minutes taken from an old episode — but we persevered! Brand new Hannah McKittrick is an absolute delight. I’ve been waiting on my toes for new music from Hannah since stumbling on her 2022 album ‘The day has again bruised me.’ Her new track ‘Utensil’ has a different energy, but still is an expert display of Hannah’s masterful songwriting and vocal ability. I was also really excited to play some more Emma Volard, who I have been actively obsessing over for weeks. Their 2024 album Alibi is genuinely a feat, and every track on this album is purposeful, infectious and full of energy.

Also, had a lovely chat with a friend of the show Isobel Knight! She’s hitting the Golden Age Cinema and Bar for three Tuesdays in a row with the Lost Dog Tour Film Residency. The film, which is shot entirely on Super 8, follows Isobel Knight and her folk trio’s 2023 tour as they play shows around America. With handpicked moments shot on a (sometimes) unreliable medium, the film is an exploration of the experience and captures golden moments shared between the trio and their audiences. Special shoutout to Immy and Zach, who gave me over two hours’ worth of music recommendations when I called them two days ago. Got so much new music to share thanks to them, some new favourites for sure.
