This weekend is the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, and a great opportunity to fire up the dancefloor of the airwaves and play a selection of forgotten mirror ball classics and future anthems.

It’s no secret that I think Dr Packers remix of Doug Willis “Skate Dancer” is an amazing slice of modern disco, and I relish the opportunity to play it at any available opportunity. So when putting together today’s Mardi Gras warm-up it was a no brainer to include this track. However, it’s worth mentioning that Dr Packers remix might have more in common with the original 1980 small run record from Vinzerrelli. It’s the only release from this artist – and while I personally still think the Dr Packer remix is far superior, it’s interesting to see the roots of this extremely funky tune.
