If you’re a regular listener of
2SER, you’d know that over the next two weeks we’re in the midst of our regular Subscriber Drive.
The one time of the year where we ask the folks of Greater Sydney and Australia to get behind us financially and support the station.
Apart from a handful of staff members who keep the lights on, nearly every presenter you hear over the seven days of the week is a volunteer – we don’t get paid, we do it purely because we love to give a voice to the communities of Sydney that otherwise would go largely unnoticed by the dominance of commercial radio.
I LOVE Australian music.
The sheer talent that lies in the independent, alternative and underground realms of Australia is astounding, and there’s nothing that gives me a kick out of my life more than spreading the love.
When someone emails in, or stops me at a gig to say “Hey, I really dug that song by X, Y or Z that you played the other night” I beam.
It’s called Commercial radio for a reason, but more importantly, it’s called COMMUNITY RADIO for a reason.
I’m going to be playing some of my favourite tracks from the year so far, with a sprinkle of new things in between.
Hopefully I’ll hear your voice on the other end of the phone at some point tonight.
