Anna Cordell – Nobody Knows Us
2SER’s latest feature album comes from Melbourne songstress Anna Cordell. Her debut record ‘Nobody Knows Us’ arrives after almost a decade-long break from music, time that’s been filled with motherhood and building a clothing label (whose threads have been on Dyson Stringer Cloher, Sharon Van Etten and more).
While 60s/70s folk are mostly channeled here, Anna’s erudite yet searching approach to songwriting provides a refreshing take to it all. There’s also an emotional depth that’s intimately tactile and hard to ignore, almost as if Emily Bronte came back and took guitar lessons from Joni Mitchell, and singing lessons from Sarah Blasko.
