Get Away with Dre: Yoga Retreats in Australia

Saturday 21st of June is International Yoga Day and everyone that knows me will tell you I’m the biggest advocate of having yoga in your life. Incorporating yoga into your everyday life doesn’t just change your life physically, but it impacts you positively mentally as well.

I try to practice yoga once to three times a week. Thursday mornings have been put aside for yoga practice weekly and I make that a non-negotiable, however it can be hard to fit yoga into a busy scheduel. Not everyone has the luxury to practce yoga everyday, so lets look at a few yoga retreats you can escape to, to focus on some yoga, some wellness activities and to just focus on yourself for a few days.

Krishna Village farm

Krishna Village – Eungella NSW

Krishna Village Eco Yoga Community is located in the Northern Rivers, in between Byron and the Gold Coast. The Krishna village is more than just a retreat, it’s a yogi’s way of life.

The Krishna Farm is a 1000 acre certified organic farm complete with orchards, veggie gardens, cows, horses and swimming holes.

They hold yoga classes 7 days a week twice a day, meditation classes, massages appointments, and they feed you 3-times a day with delicious vegetarian meals.

You can stay there for however long you like and attend all the classes you like.

Accommodation options range from private to family cabins; king, queen and twin rooms; modern cottages; budget rooms, and camping and caravans spaces.

If you have an open and curious mind you can visit their Radha Govardhandhari temple to learn about the spiritual foundation of Bhakti yoga. Their ‘simple living, high thinking’ philosophy is to feel vibrantly alive and healthy on a physical, emotional and spiritual level – which you will see and feel on the farm.

As well as yoga classes, you can book a massage, attend life coach sessions, meditate at the Lotus lake, swim in the river, help with milking the cows, and help with the fruit and vegetable picking in the garden. You can drive to Cabarita beach or go to Springbrook National Park (both 30 minutes away), or cycle the Northern Rivers Rail Trail situated closeby.

The Krishna Village is a beautiful place to focus on your inner and physical growth, healing or spiritual awakening.
