Going Down

Sometimes you just want to write about what you know instead of what people expect. Even if that’s life as a red-blooded, hipster millennial who’s also a woman of colour.

In Michele Lee‘s new play Going Down, things aren’t going so great for protagonist Natalie Yang when her memoir Banana Girl doesn’t set the shelves on fire. But she’s determined to double down and reboot her career… or hit rock bottom.

Sophie chatted to Michele about intersectionality, identity especially as an Asian-Australian, millennial life and defying expectations.

Going Down, Sydney Theatre Company, March 23 – May 5, $37-42.
