Why the government wants to quiz kids on made-up words

Could testing be the answer to improving literacy levels in Australia? The federal government has supported new research that the UK’s phonics test should be trialled in primary schools which would test students on reading 40 words – some of which aren’t real. We were joined by Misty Adoniou, literacy and language expert from the University of Canberra to find out more.
