Handheld Ultrasounds Bring New Meaning To Cell Phone Technology

Previously on the Daily, we covered a story about a new device called The Butterfly tool. For those who missed the story, The Butterfly tool is a  portable ultrasound device to diagnose and treat patients currently being used by the Royal Melbourne Hospital. This new medical and technological innovation has replaced the traditional stethoscope as it enables doctors to quickly make a diagnosis by connecting the smartphone to provide real-time images to the patient.

Royal Melbourne Hospital Cardiothoracic Surgeon Alistair Royse, joined us on The Daily to discuss the benefits of such a technology.
