Are heartburn medications really safe and who should use them?
Heartburn is a common problem for many people – a burning feeling in the chest caused by stomach acid travelling up the food pipe after eating.
But a recent study followed 350,000 US veterans for more than five years and found a small increased risk of early death in those taking this kind of medication. This has led to the big question of whether this is the right medication. Joining is Vincent Ho, lecturer and clinical academic gastroenterologist at Western Sydney University.
