Heatwaves and Climate Change

On Tuesday, Sydney experienced its hottest December day in 11 years, with temperatures soaring up to a blistering 38 degrees in some areas.
Experts warn that similar days may occur in the future – for better or for worse – as climate change opens up the possibility for more frequent and intense heatwaves around Australia.

To discuss this issue, we spoke with Professor Steven Sherwood, director of the Climate Change Research Centre.
