Fighting to Keep Tamil Asylum Seekers in Australia

A young Tamil asylum seeker family have faced another setback after their Federal Court bid to stay in Australia was rejected last Friday. Nades and Priya and their two young Australian-born daughters were removed from their home in the Queensland community of Biloela by the Australian Border Force back in March.

Since being detained, fellow Biloela residents have championed their case, fighting to keep the family in the country. The Home to Bilo campaign has garnered nationwide support from everyday Australians and refugee advocates. The latest development in the family’s case has again bolstered the campaign which will continue to lobby for the Immigration Minister to intervene in the case. Angela Fredericks, a Biloela resident and friend of the family joined us on The Daily.
