Impostor Indigenous Art Under Inquiry

Inauthentic Indigenous art continues to fill tourist shops around the nation. The consequences of using generic Aboriginal and First Nation designs are felt across communities across the country. Now, The Productivity Commission is taking action with an investigation into the trade of Indigenous art with the federal government looking for ways to safeguard the sector.

Local Indigenous artists are hopeful the move will keep fake art off Australian shelves, and ensure economic benefits are provided to the community.
