How Instagram is changing the way we experience art

Instagram is huge – with 800 million users sharing 95 million photos per day. Amongst fashion, food and friends, there are lots of photos taken in art galleries. Adam Suess and Kylie Budge, PhD candidates at Griffith University and Western Sydney University, are looking at how this trend is impacting the way we experience art. Adam caught up with Nic to chat about whether Instagram is giving orthodox gallery visits a new lease on life and attract audiences it wouldn’t otherwise, or whether selfie culture and the search for the perfect filter is eroding true engagement with art.
