Interview: Luc Besson, director of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

When Luc Besson makes a film people get excited.

His new film is the sci-fi epic Valerian & the City of a Thousand Planets.

Based on the comics created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Meziers in the late 1960’s, the film follows the adventures of two space cops – Valerian and Laureline – as they try to safeguard the space station Alpha, and the universe, from destruction.

A visual spectacular, Valerian & the City of a Thousand Planets is the most expensive independent film ever made in Europe and took seven years to make.

Michael Jones is speaking here with Luc Besson about his labour of love.
