Interview with Cannes winning director Kleber Mendonca Filho

Premiering at the Sydney Film Festival a new film goes into the dark history of Brazil’s military government, providing an unsettling account of a culture of secrets built around corruption and violence. The film The Secret Agent focuses on the story of a technology expert on the run who has returned to his home town of Recife to reunite with his son.

Stephen Hill talked to the Cannes Best Director Kleber Mendonca Filho about this film that in all its cinematic splendour captures the chaotic mood of 1970s Brazil.

The Secret Agent is screening at the Sydney Film Festival and will receive its commercial release through Rialto in January.
