Is a social licence to operate more style than substance?

Since the GFC, there’s been a lot of talk about companies needing ongoing acceptance by the community. It’s known in business circles as a social licence to operate. But are companies using the term as a fig leaf for business as usual practices? Associate Professor Martijn Boersma from University of Notre Dame Australia explains what’s going on.
