John Herndon from Tortoise

Chicago’s Tortoise were the band the term ‘post-rock’ was coined around soon after their 1994 self-titled debut, mixing jazz, dub, electronica and minimal composition in their groundbreaking music. The band released The Catastrophist – their first album in seven years – earlier this year, featuring vocalists for the first time including Yo La Tengo’s Georgia Hubley. 2SER Music Director Andrew Khedoori spoke to one of Tortoise’s drummers John Herndon leading up to the band’s Sydney show Wednesday night.
