Keeping Asylum Seekers on Manus Island now Illegal

Yesterday afternoon, Papua New Guinea’s Supreme Court ruled that Australia’s detention of asylum seekers on Manus Island is illegal. On the one hand, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton was quick to hold a press conference letting everyone know that Australia’s border policy wasn’t going to change in light of this ruling. We were joined by Tim O’Connor, Communications Director at The Refugee Council of Australia to find out more about this ruling.
