Kidney Disease in Women

Around 850,000 Australian women currently show signs of Chronic Kidney Disease, with 968 per year starting renal replacement therapy for end stage kidney disease. 

It’s often called the “silent disease”, because frequently there are no symptoms. But with about 15-20% of patients being in their child-bearing years, pregnancy and parenthood is a key concern for many. 

The Daily’s  Stephen Hill spoke with Dr Shilpanjali Jesudason, Nephrologist and Clinical Director of Kidney Health Australia, about early detection and treatment.
