Lane Cove Magpie Controversy: Is There a Better Solution?
Last week, Lane Cove Council on Sydney’s North Shore announced that a pair of magpies would be culled following a series of attacks on nearby residents. Social media immediately erupted calling the decision callous and unnecessary. Two online petitions have amassed almost 40,000 signatures urging Lane Cove Council to reconsider the cull.
2SER Monday Daily was joined by Darryl Jones, Professor Emeritus at Griffith University and magpie expert to discuss alternatives to culling magpies that protects both magpie and human safety.
