Live Theatre and The Suspension of Disbelief

World Theatre Day happened over the weekend – Friday, to be specific – and while the ongoing pandemic means we can’t leave our houses to watch live theatre, we can stock up on our knowledge of what we’re experiencing to help us appreciate a stage performance the next time we’re able to. The essential dramatic convention we’re looking at today is called ‘suspension of disbelief’. Prof. Julian Meyrick, Professor of Creative Arts in the Centre for Creative Industries at Griffith University, is on the line now to give us an explainer.
