Paste - 2ser Local Artist Spotlight

This week on the 2ser Local Artist Spotlight, Mitch Lumsden caught up with the Eora/Sydney alt-punk four piece Paste…

Blending punchy, beat-oriented tracks with an ethereal atmosphere of pads and guitar tones, Paste deliver on their debut self titled EP with a unique and organic sound, a product of iterating through different lineups and sounds. The group now find their form, moving from a duo to a four piece, and have hit the ground running in 2025 with their stellar debut release.

Channelling a broad spectrum of influences from the likes of hip-hop/punk groups like Joey Valence & Brae to bands like Basement and Title Fight, the five track EP explores a dynamic variety of punchy and rap-like vocals mixed in with ethereal shoegazey harmonies, supported by their immersive dreamy post-punk sound. Their release also comes alongside a beautiful music video created and directed by Tom Dillon for the track “Glow”, perfectly encapsulating the flowing essence of the song through Dillon’s creative perspective.

Mitch was joined on NewFangled by Vin, Archie, Dan and Maia from Paste to chat about the new release, the origins of Paste and their upcoming EP launch at The Lord Gladstone on February 8th alognside Spike Derby!

You can find tickets to the EP launch here and make sure to check out the debut self titled EP from Paste now!
