Dissonance, Disconnect, and Lockdown Fatigue

The world as we know it has come to a standstill, no thanks to COVID-19. The pandemic is a collective trauma for everyone, but the burden of suffering can be unequal.  Enforced quarantine and extended lockdowns – as is the case in Victoria – can have a severe psychological toll on us, being the social creatures we are. Being forced to socially distance, being disconnected from others, and from the outside world can force us to be alone with our thoughts. If you are suffering from some form of “lockdown fatigue”, Dr. Anthony Jorm, an emeritus professor at the Centre for Mental Health at the University of Melbourne, talked with Drive about overcoming it.
