While some video games thrive on randomness, ‘lootboxes’ – a system that consumes virtual items which drop cosmetics, weapons and other items – use these random drops to incentivize re-rolling to get the best option.

A recent study containing 22 children aged between 7 and 14, as well as their parents, has stated that even children are concerned about the potential for being introduced to gambling through these methods.
