Macquarie Point Stadium bill unveiled as costs climb to $945M

The Tasmanian government has released draft legislation to allow the $945 million Macquarie Point stadium in Hobart to proceed, bypassing the usual planning commission process.

The cost has risen by $170 million, and the project is tied to Tasmania securing an AFL team licence.

I spoke with Doctor Robert Hortle from University of Tasmania about the project’s financial impact.
