Meet Pea and Bear, the new seal pups of Taronga’s great southern blue! – Brad McKenzie at 2SER

Amongst the amazing creatures that exist here in Australia some of the most adorable are the long-nosed fur seals and Australian sea lions. However, due to the ongoing pollution of the ocean as well of the very damaging hunting practices from back in the day, these wonderful animals have been declining in numbers through the years.

However, organizations such as Taronga Zoo have been doing something about it, and their efforts have recently materialized in the form of Pea and Bear, the new baby seals of the Taronga’s Greater Southern Oceans Habitat!

Today at 2SER we are accompanied by none other than Brad McKenzie, a senior keeper with a long history with the threatened seal species at the Zoo. During this insightful interview, Brad shares some of the insights about the pups, including their backstories, the species, and the things Taronga is doing to aid in their conservation, not to mention things listeners like YOU can do to help these amazing creatures stay by our side!

The Zoo is open everyday of the year, so be sure to come by and greet these lovely babies before they grow up!
