17 countries currently offer paid leave for reasons of menstruation, miscarriage and menopause, whilst only 3 Australian companies who have currently implemented this policy. There is a polarising debate weighing up whether menstrual leave may act as a disincentive to women’s employment and a hinderance rather than a way of destigmatising periods. Modibodi, an Aussie leak-proof apparel brand, is one of the first Australian businesses to implement 10 days paid leave – we were joined by ModiBodi Founder and CEO Kristy Chong to discuss the logistics of this scheme.
