Are minorities the new majority?

Minority. We all know the word, some of us may be considered to be one. It often relates to groups which are not counted as the major social group in society. They are outnumbered.

Today, more and more people choose to relocate, move countries and settle down somewhere else. Whether they are being forced to leave due to conflicts or they choose to do so for other reasons, better job prospects – these people are often seen as minorities in their new countries. But with a growing number of people moving and living in other countries will this soon be an outdated term? And what affect does the media have on our perception of minorities?

To get some more information we had a chat with John Budarick, Lecturer at the Department of Media from the University of Adelaide.
