The missing earth – where do continents go to die?

Have you ever wondered what the earth looked like 3 billion years ago? Well, pieces of the earth are floating around and have been found deep in the ocean and are now giving us an insight into a lost continent that has been discovered on the bottom of the Indian Ocean. What was this continent and why did it disappear? Professor Martin Van Kranendonk, the Head of the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences School at UNSW and studies Archean tectonics, early life and global geo-dynamics and he joins us this morning to delve a little ‘deeper’ into the hidden world.
