More awards for Books?

Arts and Cultural events and activities are an important foundation of our society.. The sector is subsidised by the government, but that doesn’t mean that it is not subject to the same economic rules. Art sectors can fail not because quality work isn’t being produced, but because consumers don’t know it’s quality work that should be bought. A potential solution? More awards! Awards are a good indicator of whether something is well liked or of a good quality, in particular book sales often hinging on what awards and how many a book has acquired.

Jason Potts Professor of Economics, RMIT University, spoke to The Daily to discuss this
