Market analysts question Morrison Government’s $600 million gas splash

The Morrison government has said its proposed tax-payer-funded Kurri Kurri gas-fired power plant announced on Wednesday, will fill a gap in the electricity market when the Liddell coal-fired power station closes down in 2023. Energy market experts have criticised the government’s decision to build a 660-watt generator, describing it as unnecessary. They have raised concerns about its potential to deter investments in transitioning the energy grid.
