The Federal Government is finalising its National Energy Guarantee, with the Coalition Party Room agreeing its final form a couple of days ago. It’s a Frankenstein compromise which tries to appeal to all sides of government – and seemingly satisfies none.

One of the areas the Guarantee is notably lacking in is renewable energy, scrapping Chief Scientist Alan Finkel’s proposals of introducing a Clean Energy Target, and extending the Renewable Energy Target to 2020. With the world turning towards renewable energy, it would appear this is a lost opportunity for the Turnbull Government.
