New Bill For Minors on Social Media

A new bill is being introduced into parliament to place more regulations on social media companies that have users from Australia. The proposed legislation will require any accounts made by under 16-year-olds to ask for parental permission to create an account on the app. Many sites will be affected such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok if this bill gets through both houses. The goal is to strengthen users’ private information to protect children. We spoke to Dr. Brad Ridout from Sydney Uni to find out more.
