Mali-born, Sydney-based guitarist and singer Moussa Diakite returns with his latest album, Kanafo. Produced by Sydney-born Berber musician Julian Bel-Bachir and recorded with Mali and Sydney musicians, Diakite mixes funk, reggae, and traditional Wassoulou in this new batch of compositions, creating a record that’s effortlessly fun and pure joy from top to bottom.

Accompanying the recent documentary of the same name about the Women’s Liberation Movement in 1960s and 1970s Australia, Brazen Hussies collects music by Australian women of the era. Chapter Music label head Guy Blackman has pulled together an eclectic collection – rock songs sit next to folk tunes, reggae next to jazz – that highlights just diverse and radical feminist music in this country has been. A welcome companion to the film, and invigorating stocktake of Australian music history.
