New Music with Steph Liong

Monday morning means Steph Liong is back with more new music to kick off your week.

Starting off with Ecuadorian-American producer Helado Negro and the release of his 6th album This Is How You Smile. Like some of his earlier work you find him embracing his Ecuadorian heritage with earthy Latin tones, and a fluid mix between Spanish and English. This one’s called “Sabana de luz”.

Next up is trio Lonesome Shack, with Desert Dreams. Lead singer Ben Todd spent some time living in a shack in the New Mexico desert where he learnt finger picking on a banjo and traditional blues tunes, which rings through in this album. Check out “The City is a Desert”.

Finishing off New Music with the self titled debut album of LA artist Sasami Ashworth, who goes by Sasami. After delving in the music scene for over a decade and with supporters like Courtney Barnett and Snail Mail, it’s no surprise her first album sounds as good as it does. Take a listen to “Morning Comes”.
