New planet discovered orbiting Proxima Centauri

The solar system has been a heavily explored entity for thousands of years, with billions of dollars spent annually to further scientific discoveries. With a high financial budget and top of the range technologies, it is no surprise that astronomers have found evidence of a planet orbiting Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the sun. The recent discovery has been pinned as potentially the most exciting exoplanet discovery to date. This leaves the question of whether there is more in our universe to explore. The Daily was joined by Jonti Horner, Vice Chancellor’s Senior Research Fellow, University of Southern Queensland to discuss what this new exoplanet means for future astronomical discoveries.
