New technology to help visually impaired people to see brought to Australia

New technology to improve the vision of people with visual impairments has been introduced in Australia. eSight glasses are a wearable video device developed in Canada that have helped 1500 people around the world to see and live more independently.

At $13,000 each, these glasses are likely to be funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme, though experts say there are still some improvements to be made.

This comes in the wake of calls for the new Commonwealth Bank touchscreen EFTPOS machine to become more accessible for people with vision impairments.
