Newborn screening scheme needs a national approach

A new poll by Better Access Australia found out Australians would like babies to be screened for more diseases.

The organisation is pledging for a national newborn screening scheme, which potentially could save lives and be cost-effective in the health system.

Australia only screens for 25 diseases, compared to 50 across Europe, and on top of it, each state and territory provide their own screening schemes.
