Northern Beaches bus service privatisation: What does this mean for drivers and the local community?

Government run transport on the Northern Beaches has come to an end after 90 years. From November, private operator Keolis Downer will take over the Region 8 bus service covering the Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore. There will be some exciting new developments introduced like on-demand service and over 100 new zero emission (electric) buses. However, there are concerns about how this will impact the local community and the drivers serving them.

Monday Daily Presenter Jarred Cross spoke to David Babineau, Tram and Bus Division Secretary of the Rail, Tram and Bus Union to discuss the privatisation of Sydney’s Region 8 bus service.
