NSW govt targets dangerous drivers

Although using a mobile phone whilst driving is highly distracting and it increases the risk of a crash, many of us continue doing it. The NSW government plans to fight this dangerous habit with the introduction of mobile detection cameras, which will snap photos of drivers talking and texting while driving. Though the Government says lives will be saved with the initiative, some have questioned whether it amounts to just more surveillance.

Luis Ribera, spoke to Alex Jannink, managing Director of Acusensus, the company that developed the system in Australia to find out more about this new technology, and to Geoff Holland, from faculty of law, UTS, regarding public privacy issues.
